— June 26, 2024

Part of the TBA’s mission is to advance the highest standards of excellence for the legal profession.

TOLEDO, OH — Shumaker lawyer Tremayne J. Hogue has been appointed to the Toledo Bar Association (TBA) Board of Directors, joining the Board to serve the remainder of a vacated seat alongside Shumaker Partner Cheri Budzynski, who has been serving as a dedicated board member since 2023.

“When we learned that the Toledo Bar Association had a Board of Directors position to fill, it was clear to me that Tre was the obvious choice. He is bright, enthusiastic, and will be a great asset to the Association. We look forward to Tre’s contributions,” said Cindy Kirby, President of the Toledo Bar Association Board of Directors.

The TBA’s mission is to advance the highest standards of excellence for the legal profession, promote the rule of law, facilitate equal access to justice, and consciously foster a diverse and inclusive legal community by providing unmatched collaborative opportunities, professional development, and outstanding services to its members while also supporting the community at large.

“My appointment to the TBA Board of Directors provides a unique opportunity to support law students entering the profession and young lawyers trying to navigate the demands of the profession, offering them the guidance and resources they need to succeed,” Tre said. “I am thankful for this opportunity, and I am committed to fostering opportunities that strengthen our community and uphold excellence in the legal profession.”

An Associate in Shumaker’s Litigation and Disputes and Labor and Employment Service Lines, Tre is a determined attorney who focuses on achieving clients’ desired results the first time. He is a graduate of The University of Toledo College of Law, and he earned a Certificate of Concentration in Criminal Law along with his J.D. While in law school, Tre served as President of the Black Law Students Association and the Note & Comment Editor for The University of Toledo Law Review; he also published scholarship in the Review’s Fall 2021 issue. Tre gained practical experience through two summer internships, first at the Ohio Justice & Policy Center in Cincinnati, OH, and then in Shumaker’s summer associate program in its Toledo office.

“As a colleague and fellow board member, I am confident that Tre will be instrumental in the TBA’s continuous efforts to promote the rule of law while decreasing the disparity between the composition of the legal profession and the demographics of the community and clients we serve,” Cheri said. “His commitment to inclusion goes hand-in-hand with the TBA’s longstanding commitment to promoting access to justice for all members of our community, including the underrepresented and underserved.”
