Bush Brothers & Company Recalls Baked Beans Over Defective Cans

For many people in the US, baked beans are the perfect accompaniment to a summer cook out. Unfortunately, one popular brand of baked beans has issued a recall due to defective cans. The recall was issued by Bush’s Beans and “applies to certain 28-ounce cans of Bush’s Brown Sugar Hickory Baked Beans, Country Style Baked Beans, and Original Baked Beans.”

The recall was issued by Bush Brothers & Company and “applies to certain 28-ounce cans of Bush’s Brown Sugar Hickory Baked Beans, Country Style Baked Beans, and Original Baked Beans.”

The decision to recall the cans of beans came after an internal quality assurance check discovered that there were a “potentially defective side seams on the” now recalled cans.

In a recent statement the company said:

“Subsequent investigations indicated a temporary quality issue from one of our can suppliers. The problem was corrected and no other product is affected.”

Fortunately, no incidents of illness have been reported due to the defect, which has the potential of damaging the quality of the beans. For now, Bush Brothers & Company is urging consumers who have the recalled products to dispose of them if they look, taste, or smell spoiled. To help consumers identify if their can of beans is included in the recall, the company released the following list:

• 28-ounce Bush’s Best Brown Sugar Hickory with case UPC of 003940001977, and Lot Codes 6097S GF and 6097P GF.
• 28-ounce Bush’s Best Country Style with case UPC of 0003940091974 and 00340001974 and Lot Codes 6077S RR, 6077P RR, 6087S RR, 6087P RR.
• 28-ounce Bush’s Best Original with case UPC of 003940091614 and 003940001614 and Lot Codes 6057S LC and 6057P LC.

Additionally, all of the recalled beans “have a best-by date of June 2019.” Customers with questions or concerns about the recall can contact Bush Brothers & Company at 1-800-590-3797 Monday through Friday from 7 to 4 p.m.
