Fieldsource Food Systems, Inc. is recalling certain beef and chicken products over undeclared allergen concerns.
A recall was issued earlier this week for close to 13,000 pounds of diced beef and chicken products over concerns of undeclared allergens and misbranding. The recall was issued by Fieldsource Food Systems, Inc. According to the company, the recalled products “contain wheat, which is a known allergen, but it is not declared on the product label.”
The affected uncooked products were produced between June 9 and July 10 and shipped to retailers in 20-pound boxes “containing four unmarked 5-pound plastic bags.” According to the notice, the recalled beef is labeled as ‘FIELDSORCE FOOD SYSTEMS, INC. NORTHGATE MARKET MARINATED BEEF CUBES’ with lot codes 061019 through 071019. The affected chicken is labeled as ‘FIELDSOURCE FOOD SYSTEMS, INC. NORTHGATE MARKET MARINATED CHICKEN CUBES’ with lot codes 061019 through 071019.
Fortunately, the products were only shipped to certain California grocery stores “and used behind the deli counter,” according to the notice posted on the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) website.
The issue itself was discovered during a routine FSIS label check. Fortunately, no adverse reactions linked to the consumption of the products have been reported. For now, the products should either be thrown away or returned for a refund.
