Grayeson Hawkins-Fishman – A Magnet For Trouble
Grayeson Hawkins-Fishman, 21, is a magnet for trouble. He has been arrested twice in Colorado in the course of a year. His first brush with the law came after Hawkins-Fishman smashed his ex-girlfriend’s laptop. That break up apparently hurt him quite a bit. According to the police report filed in this incident, officers were called to the man’s residence at at 11:30 a.m. on May 4th after a teenage boy said he heard screaming coming from the Club Commons apartment complex. Upon arriving at the scene, officers interviewed a female resident who revealed she had ended a relationship with her boyfriend, Hawkins-Fishman, earlier that same week. After calling it quits, the woman’s ex-lover had arrived at her home unexpectedly without her consent to pick up his things. Before he left, Hawkins-Fishman allegedly spit in her face and shattered her new $1500 laptop by chucking the machine to the floor. Love hurts.
At that point, the report continues, an officer called Hawkins-Fishman and asked him to return to the scene for questioning, but he was evidently too intuitive for that, knowing he was in trouble, and refused to come back to the apartment “because law enforcement would only believe the woman’s side of the story and he would end up going to jail.” So, police set off to find the man instead, and later took Hawkins-Fishman into custody at his mom’s house nearby. At the time, the report states, he told officers the laptop broke after it inadvertently slipped from his hand when the woman tried to grab it from him. Likely, perhaps, but this response didn’t answer the more fundamental question of why he would be holding her device to begin with. So, he was taken to the station on suspicion of felony criminal mischief.
Then, in a separate incident, police were called to a bar in Aspen after being told that several young men were allegedly waiting in an alley to fight security staffers who had just tossed them out. Guess who was among the rowdy crew causing trouble? Turns out, the laptop destroyer matched the description of one possible suspect, and sure enough, an officer was able to verify his identity. During the conversation that followed, the affidavit quotes Hawkins-Fishman as insisting during questioning “he was trying to break up the fight…. His friends were ‘acting stupid,’ so they were asked to leave, and they got upset with the bouncers and Hawkins-Fishman was trying to keep any fights from happening.” Sounds like the kid’s got an alibi for everything, and officers may have been inclined to side with him had one not decided to run the suspect’s name through the police database. That’s when they discovered he was wanted on an active warrant related to yet another offense — this time for failing to appear in court for a traffic dispute. Officers put two and two together, and the full picture of who this man truly was came together– someone with obvious anger management issues.
When the officer told Hawkins-Fishman that he was under arrest, this time he responded by saying, “I’m not gonna lie. I’ve got some drugs in my pocket…some cocaine.” And, he wasn’t bluffing. They were able to fish out a baggie containing a little under half a gram and immediately added a cocaine possession charge to his record. The truth will set you free? Not in this guy’s case.
