Naked Man Seeing Snakes Arrested
54-year-old Michael Quin Webber is on drugs. That is the only explanation for his strange behavior. Webber was recently arrested on suspicion of indecent exposure after having been found walking around naked in Aspen. At the time, he had a white substance on his nostrils and told the arresting officer he had been seeing snakes. When the officer pulled his background, he discovered Webber was a sex offender.
Back in February of 2007, Webber pleaded guilty to two sexual battery counts related to an incident that occurred with a forty-year-old woman on October 24, 2005. Webber and the woman had gone on a date. At the end of the night, he took her to his place, restrained her, stripped her naked and assaulted her after placing his hand over her mouth to muffle any screams.
Webber’s attorney said that his client had enrolled in a program designed to help batterers change their behavior. He was “living a sober life” and his primary means for income was a family trust fund. Webber received a three year, eight month suspended sentence and was required to register as a sex offender. A decade later, he seemed to have forgotten all about his status. His social media accounts have numerous pictures of Webber enjoying a “non-sober” and sexually explicit life. Recent posts on his Facebook page include a photo of him sitting on top of a wine barrel, riding it as if it were a horse, and there’s the video of him comically motor boating the breasts of a woman during a patio party.
The Aspen Police Department received a 911 call in this most recent run-in reporting a naked man running around outside of a hotel claiming to be seeing snakes. The arriving officer, Walter Chi, was in the middle of asking the caller where he could find the man he had called in when Webber came strutting up to them completely nude. “Upon contacting the male, asking him to explain what was going on, he relayed that he was seeing ‘snakes,'” Chi’s report reads, adding, “Webber appeared to be extremely agitated.” Paramedics confirmed that “he appeared to be under the influence of something,” according to the report.
The officer handed Webber a blanket to cover up while the man told him he had rented an apartment in the city to use when he came to town. “I asked Webber if he was moving to Aspen and he relayed that he rented an apartment for when he came to Aspen,” Chi wrote. Webber apparently told him the apartment was in a complex on the West End. Under Colorado law, a sex offender who has been in Colorado for fourteen consecutive days out of thirty must register with the state. Webber’s full-time residence is still listed as Santa Monica, but Facebook posts and pictures taken over the past few weeks show he had been spending quite a bit of time in Aspen. It looks like Webber’s decision to spend more time in Aspen may eventually put him on the state’s registry. However that night, he was only at the station for a few hours before he was released.
