Earlier this week, King Bio issued a recall of “almost a year’s worth of 32 homeopathic children’s medicines that claim to treat everything from stomachaches to bed wetting.” According to the recall notice posted on the FDA’s website, the company said, “a small percentage of our products produced between 08/01/2017 and 04/2018 have tested positive for microbial contamination.”
For many parents, their child’s health and well-being ranks pretty high on their priority list, which is why it’s important to be mindful of product recalls like the one recently issued for a brand of children’s medicine.
How dangerous is microbial contamination, though? What kind of health issues can it cause? Well, according to the recall notice:
“Administration or use of drug products with microbial contamination could potentially result in increased infections that may require medical intervention, and could result in infections that could be life-threatening to certain individuals.”
In addition to King Bio, some DK brand products and 13 different SafeCare Rx products are also included in the recall and were distributed by King Bio between August 2017 and July 2018. SafeCare Rx is a brand “to be used only by medical professionals.” Concerned customers and medical professionals can find a complete list of the recalled products and specific lot numbers here.
If you have any of the recalled products, contact King Bio at recall@kingbio.com for instructions on the return process.
