TAMPA, FL – Shumaker lawyers Sarah S. Jawad and Hillary E. Thornton have been appointed to the Hillsborough County Bar Association Young Lawyers Division (HCBA YLD) Board of Directors, where they will serve as officers and contribute to various initiatives aimed at supporting the professional development of young attorneys.
The HCBA YLD is comprised of approximately 1,000 members who are younger than 36 years of age or have been practicing fewer than five years. The mission of the YLD is to support the initiatives and goals of the HCBA, promote professionalism and ethical conduct, provide guidance and support to new lawyers, provide educational opportunities for members, organize programs and events of interest to young lawyers, and encourage community involvement.
“Shumaker attorneys have a long history of supporting the HCBA Young Lawyers Division, and we are proud of Sara and Hillary for being appointed to the Board of Directors,” said Jaime Austrich, Managing Partner of Shumaker’s Tampa office. “They are dedicated to the practice of law and the community, and we are confident that they will continue to excel in their new officer roles, benefiting both the YLD and the broader legal community.”
Sara has been an active member of the HCBA YLD, serving as a Chair of the Member Services Committee (2023-2024) and currently as a Liaison to the Hillsborough County Bar Foundation.
