Kids Preferred Toy Company Issues Voluntary Recall of 587,000 Plush Toys

— October 19, 2017

It’s hard to imagine that the holidays are nearly upon us. For many parents, that means it’s almost time for Christmas shopping. However, because toy recalls occur frequently, it’s important for parents to be aware of what toys are and are not safe for their little ones. A quick glance at the news or Consumer Product Safety Commission’s website is a good way to find information about any current recalls, such as the one recently issued by Kids Preferred Toy Company. Yesterday the toy company recalled “more than 587,000 children’s toys…because of a wind-up attachment that could pose a choking hazard.”

Yesterday the toy company recalled “more than 587,000 children’s toys…because of a wind-up attachment that could pose a choking hazard.”

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the “metal post or handle” on the musical wind-up toy can detach. Considering these toys are geared towards younger children more likely to put objects in their mouth, Kids Preferred Toy Company is taking the matter very seriously, as well it should.

But what brands of the “musical plush toys” are affected by the recall? Where were they sold? For starters, the recalled toys were sold at a number of retailers online and nationwide, including Target, Carters, and Walmart. The particular brands included in the recall include:

  • Carter’s®
  • Child of Mine®
  • Guess How Much I Love You®
  • Just One You®

Parents can easily identify the recalled toys by checking the batch code and model number “printed on the smallest white sewn-in label behind the care label,” to see if it matches any of the numbers on included on the CPSC recall notice here. Additionally, the toys were “sold in a variety of animal characters and colors.”

Parents who have one of these recalled toys are being urged to take them away from their children and should contact Kids Preferred Toy Company “for a free replacement” at 888-968-9268 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday.
