Spoiler alert: he doesn’t seem to think it’s that big of a deal. The rate of occurrence, after all, is about 0.1%. Even if we accept that of the 750,000 Essure kits sold only 450,000 of them were successfully used, that is still 450 women now facing Lupus and other life-altering autoimmune disorders. Utterly unacceptable “collateral damage” in my opinion.
It is, however, a step in the right direction. At least now, those who suffer from Essure-related autoimmune conditions have something they can use to help convince their doctors to help. These are often very difficult diagnoses to get and the conditions go untreated.
Keep spreading the word. Keep telling the truth. You are not alone. There are almost 25,000 members in the Essure Problems Facebook group and there is also a website. Both have a lot of information and support to offer.
