A voluntary recall was recently issued by J&J Snack Foods Handheld Corp. Based in Holly Ridge, North Carolina, the company’s recall includes “two lots of Fit & Active Southwest Veggie Stuffed Sandwiches” over concerns that the products may be contaminated with Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes.
A voluntary recall was recently issued by J&J Snack Foods Handheld Corp. Based in Holly Ridge, North Carolina, the company’s recall includes “two lots of Fit & Active Southwest Veggie Stuffed Sandwiches” over concerns that the products may be contaminated with Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes.
According to the recall notice, the stuffed sandwiches have a production code of 20027230003106:15 and 20027235003115:13 and a Best By date of February 9 and February 14, 2019. Additionally, the UPC code of the affected products is 041498151171.
The products were distributed to Aldi retail stores throughout a variety of states, including “Alabama, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Vermont, and West Virginia.” Additionally, they were also available to consumers in the Atlanta, Georgia area via the grocery delivery service, Instacart.
The issue was first discovered “discovered after a supplier, McCain Foods, IL, announced it was recalling frozen vegetables which are ingredients used in the product.” Fortunately, no illnesses have been reported related to the products. For now, if you have some of the recalled products in your freezer, you should either return them for a refund or toss them in the trash.
