Another African American employee of the Fox News network has joined a recent racial discrimination lawsuit filed by two of her colleagues. Monica Douglas, who joins Tabrese Wright and Tichaona Brown, has filed similar complaints as her colleagues about the network’s former controller, Judith Slater, who has since been fired.

According to Douglas, Slater “frequently expressed an unwillingness to be near black people.” Additionally, Douglas, who is Panamanian, claims in the lawsuit that “Slater told her she wouldn’t let her dogs eat food Panamanians eat,” and often brought up Douglas’ breast cancer survivor status, calling her the “one-boobed girl.” Despite filing complaints about Slater’s discriminatory comments back in 2014, nothing was done. However, the allegations are disturbingly similar to claims from Brown and Wright.

In the original lawsuit filed a couple weeks ago in a Bronx Supreme Court lawsuit in New York City, Brown and Wright claimed that they and “other dark-skinned employees suffered years-long racial animus from Judith Slater, a former senior vice president and company controller.” According to the lawsuit, Slater “ridiculed black employees by mocking stereotyped speech” and would even force them to “pronounce the words ‘mother,’ ‘father,’ ‘month’ and ‘ask’ correctly in front of white employees.” Additionally, the lawsuit charges that, for years, Fox News allowed Slater to demean minority employees and subject them to “a racially hostile work environment without fear of punishment or reprisal.”

In response to the lawsuit, Fox News issued a statement, saying:

“There is no place for conduct like this at Fox News, which is why Ms. Slater was fired…We take complaints of this nature very seriously and took prompt and effective remedial action before Ms. Brown and Ms. Wright sued in court and even before Ms. Wright complained through her lawyer…There is no place for inappropriate verbal remarks like this at Fox News. We are disappointed that this needless litigation has been filed.”
