Infant Car Seats Recalled – Parents Please Read

A recall of infant car seats was recently issued by Thorley Industries, doing business as 4Moms. The issue behind the recall is a tight rivet that’s causing problems with the coupling hook. The coupling hook in the affected units may not properly connect the infant carrier portion of the infant car seats to the coupling pin in the seat base. If the unit doesn’t connect properly, the carrier may come lose from the base in a crash, leading to injuries.

The Takata airbag inflator saga continues as GM tells NHTSA some Takata airbag safety risks are inconsequential. As surprising as that may seem, the company asked the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to relieve it of any notification and remedy obligations pertaining to some passenger-side airbag inflators in its GMT900 vehicle platform. If granted, GM will not have to tell vehicle owners and lessors about the defects in these airbag inflators, much less replace them.

Working for Justice for Essure Baby Ariel Grace

On December 19, Holly Ennis of Ennis & Ennis P.A., as one of the lawyers working for justice for Essure baby Ariel Grace and her family, filed suit in Buncombe County, North Carolina. The plaintiff, Kristiana Burrell, is suing over injuries she experienced thanks to Bayer’s “permanent” birth control device, Essure, including a full hysterectomy. She is also suing as Personal Representative of her daughter, Ariel Grace’s, estate. The Essure device cost little Ariel Grace her life. Other named defendants include the implanting doctor, Dr. Stacy D. Travis and the Bayer sales representative, Christopher Ford Williams, who sold Essure to Dr. Travis and trained her as to proper implantation procedures.


FDA Adds New Warnings about Actos and Bladder Cancer Risk

In a press release issued yesterday the FDA adds new warnings about Actos and bladder cancer risk. The diabetes drug pioglitazone, sold as Actos, Actoplus Met, Actoplus Met XR, Duetact and Oseni could increase patients’ risk of developing bladder cancer, prompting the Agency to uphold current label warnings in addition to adding new ones.


Zika Virus Damage to Infants May Not Show Right Away

Several studies have recently confirmed that Zika virus damage to infants may not show right away. Researchers have discovered that, despite the appearance of normalcy at birth, infants who were exposed to Zika in the womb may present microcephaly and other forms of brain damage as well as vision and hearing problems.
