An alarming cyber security attack on Equifax has compromised personal information of an estimated 143 million people across the United States. To put that number into perspective, that’s nearly half of the country’s population. When parents invest in products designed to keep their children safe, they do so with the expectation that those products will actually work. Unfortunately, that’s not always to case. For example, Handi-Craft just issued a recall of “23,000 bottles of Dr. Brown’s Natural Bottle & Dish Soap” because it might contain bacteria that is harmful to children. According to the recall notice, exposure to the harmful bacteria “poses a risk of respiratory and other infections in immunocompromised individuals.”
It seems as if there has been a lot of recalls lately. From frozen foods and ATVs to cars and toys, it can be hard to keep up with what’s safe and what’s not. For parents, in particular, recalls can be a headache, especially when they involve popular toys. Earlier today, Hallmark issued a recall for “baby plush stacking toys” over concerns that the toy can pose a choking hazard.
