Clif Bar & Company Recalls Protein Bars Amid Allergy Concerns

Clif Bar & Company is recalling many flavors of its popular “protein bars due to possible peanut contamination.” The recall itself was issued in response to “a small number of consumer complaints alleging peanut or tree nut allergic reactions,” though the FDA claims there “have been no confirmed illnesses as a result of the product’s recall.”

Those with peanut or tree nut allergies beware. At the moment the recall includes a wide variety of flavors, including the Chocolate Mint flavor CLIF BUILDER’s Bar, CLIF Kid Zbar Protein Chocolate Mint, and CLIF Kid Zbar Protein Chocolate Chip flavors, according to the FDA. All of the recalled products “may have undeclared traces of peanuts and some tree nuts, which include almonds, Brazil nuts, cashews, hazelnuts, macadamia nuts, pecans, walnuts, and coconuts.”

Consumers can tell if they have a recalled bar by checking the “Best By” “found on the back of individual packaging or caddies.” A comprehensive list of the recalled products includes the following:
