The video is about 30 minutes long and well worth the time. I find many things about her to be remarkable, but perhaps the biggest thing is her desire to help others who are also suffering. It’s such a priority for her that she made this video shortly before leaving for the hospital to have her hysterectomy. Here then is Essure Story – Kim Lira Huddleston.
Today’s video is from an E-Sister who’s getting a hysterectomy to get rid of Bayer’s “permanent” birth control device, Essure, after having it for 15 years. In fact, she was one of the trial participants, implanted in December 2000.
I really want to let Kim tell her story, but there are some points I want to highlight. As mentioned, Kim was a trial participant in the study that ultimately got Essure approved by the FDA. I’ve covered the major flaws in that study and Kim’s experience was no exception though she only briefly mentions it in the video. Within three days of being implanted with Essure, she began experiencing abdominal pain. It was documented in her trial chart but, as with many others in that trial, much of her chart was altered to minimize the adverse effects Essure was already having on her body.
Kim’s experiences in later years are also quite common with other E-Sisters. She gained weight, lost hair, experienced bloating & severe cramps, along with bleeding and painful intercourse. Kim also lost several jobs as her employers classified her as a hypochondriac due to her multiple health issues. Even her own family doubted her (they’re supportive now).
Like many others, Kim also developed a list of other issues. She was recently diagnosed with Celiac disease and Lupus. At 39, Kim is having a hysterectomy to have Essure removed. Many who have done the same report complete healing of symptoms and issues eventually. Others say they are left with some of their Essure-related problems. I hope that Kim is one of the lucky ones.
Kim, I wish you all the best for successful surgery, speedy recovery and the return of your health!
