Feel Good Friday: Looking for Bike-friendly Lawyers? Here They Are!

— June 17, 2016

In today’s world, you know you can rely on yourself. That’s especially true when it comes to safely hitting the roads. As they say, “It’s the other drivers you can’t trust.” What do you do when you’re injured on the road? Call your insurance company and get a lawyer. When bikers are injured though, they often face a “double-whammy”: they’re injured and sometimes their lawyers don’t grasp their needs. Today’s Feel Good Friday is about a local Texas firm that just happens to understand our friends on two wheels because one of its lawyers used to be a biker. Are you looking for bike-friendly lawyers? Here they are!

When bikers are injured though, they often face a “double-whammy”: they’re injured and sometimes their lawyers don’t grasp their needs. Today’s Feel Good Friday is about a local Texas firm that just happens to understand our friends on two wheels because one of its lawyers used to be a biker. This past weekend (June 9 – 12) the Republic of Texas Biker Rally happened at the Travis County Expo Center in Austin. It’s described as “the largest ‘turnstile’ motorcycle rally in the USA and one of the most highly-anticipated motorcycle events in the entire country. Thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts flock to Central Texas to enjoy amazing motorcycles, Austin nightlife and the beautiful Texas Hill Country.”

Another group flocked to RoT. The attorneys and staff of Justinian PLLC were there, too. Why? Because, as their slogan says, “We’re lawyers who help injured people,” and they understand, personally, the types of injuries bikers can suffer. In fact, helping bikers is one of this firm’s passions. It’s one thing to understand the law; it’s a totally different thing to understand your clients, too.

Texas bikers, if you’re injured on the road, you need to talk to these folks. There are too many firms out there who say they understand, but talk down to you or look at you funny when you show up in their lobby. You won’t find that with these lawyers. In fact, while other firms were content to stay inside the air-conditioned Expo Center, these folks were outside in the Austin heat, talking with RoT attendees. They were the only lawyers who did that and they did it because you’re the reason they were there.

One of the lawyers, Dustin Fox, used to ride regularly. Only after two serious accidents, did he hang up his helmet. He told me, “Generally speaking, I’ve totaled two bikes due to negligent drivers, and I’ve somehow been lucky enough to basically walk away without long-lasting injuries. I still have back spasms over two years later, though.”

Dustin knows, firsthand, the ins and outs of biker injury cases. For example, depending on the circumstances, you might be able to collect from more than just the person who was driving when they negligently hit you and their insurance company. As Dustin put it, “Hiring someone like me who’s been through this several times gives my clients the peace of mind that comes from knowing they’re in good hands.”

And, from his pictures (published here with his permission), he’s not just saying that, either.

“I know what it feels like to lay down a motorcycle and what it feels like to have the medical bills begin to pile up without knowing where to turn. When clients come to me for legal advice, sometimes they aren’t seriously injured and can handle the case themselves. If that’s the situation, I tell them that. However, due to the nature of motorcycle riders not being as protected as someone in a typical motor vehicle, folks who are injured while on their motorcycles should generally seek legal representation to ensure their rights are protected.”

Of course, the RoT wasn’t all seriousness. Dustin and the crew handed out free swag, held prize raffles and generally enjoyed the party, as well as giving out advice and answering legal questions. I wish I could publish all the pictures they provided, but there are just too many. You can see them all at the firm’s Facebook page, though. I recommend it, because there are some cool pics!

Some of the firm’s lawyers and staff weren’t at RoT, though. Instead, they were at Bike Fest 2016 at Central Texas Harley-Davidson doing the same thing there as their coworkers were doing at RoT: hanging with the bikers, checking out the awesome bikes and offering legal advice to Texas bikers. This is not a firm that slaps on a pair of leathers fresh from the box and says, “We get it” when they’ve never even been on a bike. These folks get it! That’s why they get the Feel Good Friday spotlight this week. They’re lawyers helping because they’ve been where you are, know what it feels like and genuinely care.

Well done! Now, what do I have to do to get a ride on one of those sweet bikes?
