This week’s Feel Good Friday is a bit different than most. Usually, I highlight a lawyer or a law firm that does good works in the general communities in which they live and work. This week, I’m highlighting an organization that does good work within the legal community (which then benefits the people helped by the lawyers and firms I usually highlight. So let’s get going, shall we? This Feel Good Friday, I’m highlighting the Pound Civil Justice Institute.
Back in July, I reported that several plaintiffs dealing with the Essure crisis moved to create multidistrict litigation (MDL) and that the motion would be heard by the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation (JPML) on September 29. Now, I’m back to report that the plaintiffs withdrew the motion for Essure multidistrict litigation. The JPML removed the topic from the hearing schedule.
I recently had the opportunity via e-mail to interview Louis Lombardo on whistleblowing and vehicle emissions. Lou is the publisher of Care For Crash Victims Reports and an advocate for the prevention of vehicle violence. On Friday, September 23, Representative Mike Fitzpatrick asked Congress for medical device hearing with the goal of updating safety laws governing such devices. Rep. Fitzpatrick (R-PA) asked the Committee on Energy and Commerce to hold hearings examining the negative effects of “unsafe medical devices on patients and the failings of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.”
