Tea is one of the better beverage options when it comes to minding one’s health.
Many drinks – other than water – come with an assortment of negative health impacts. Often, it’s due to the presence of sugar in the drinks. With too much sugar comes a long list of health problems, so even the tastiest drinks are ones that should probably be left on the shelves. Tea, however, is an exception. Unless talking about sweet tea, this is not a beverage that is traditionally sweetened, so that’s a good start. And the good news continues to roll in as more and more studies are completed regarding what tea has to offer as far a health benefits. For people who are tea drinkers, the data is encouraging to keep it up, and for those who aren’t, it might be a good time to start.
The health benefits of tea just keep on coming the closer one looks. For a starting point, authentic teas are rich in antioxidants, and antioxidants have a strong reputation for being good for human health in a variety of ways. The benefits can potentially include a lower risk of type 2 diabetes, heart attack, cancer, and on and on. Also, it’s possible that the antioxidant power of tee can help to inhibit cognitive decline, although this isn’t as widely accepted at this point.
It’s not even necessary to look at the bigger picture of avoiding diseases in the future to see what tea has to offer. Even on a day-to-day basis, the option of having a drink that will properly hydrate the body without bringing with it unwanted elements like sugar – or any types of calories – is a great development. Many people struggle to drink enough water during the day to stay hydrated, and as a result, they can deal with a range of health issues that stem from not having enough water in the body.
Like so many other things, it’s possible for tea to go wrong. For example, if it is prepared with a couple of heaping spoons full of sugar, any health benefits of the tea are likely going to be wiped out by the overwhelming load of sugar and the carbohydrates that it brings along with it.
To make a healthy cup of tea, it’s a good idea to brew black tea using boiling water while green tea with water that is just under the boiling mark. If possible, avoid adding milk to the tea, but consider adding a couple of drops of lemon juice to help with digestion.
The taste of tea is one that has to be acquired for many people. Once they are used to the taste, however, sipping on a cup can be a favorite pastime that comes along with plenty of nice health benefits. Tea is good for anyone to consume, but those who are trying to switch away from other types of drinks that may be high in calories could benefit greatly from making this move and giving tea a try.
