Los Angeles Agrees to $6.5M Lawsuit Settlement After Bicyclist Hits Pothole

When riding his bike through Sherman Oaks on Valley Vista Boulevard in Los Angeles, Peter Godefroy lost control and hit a pothole. The accident threw him to the ground, leaving him with “broken bones and a severe traumatic brain injury.” As a result of the incident, he and his wife filed a lawsuit against the city, county, and the state of California, and now the city has agreed to pay $6.5 million to settle.




Did You Buy Honest Co. Products? You Might Be Entitled to Compensation

The Honest Co., Jessica Alba’s Health and Wellness company, has had a rough year. After battling class action lawsuits that alleged the company “engaged in unfair and deceptive practices related to its marketing, labeling, and advertising,” the Honest Co. has agreed to pay a $7 million settlement to customers in the United States who “purchased certain Honest diapering, cleaning, or personal care products.” Though the matter hasn’t been officially resolved in court, both sides of the aisle “agreed to settle the case in order to avoid the costs of continued litigation.”





Settlement Reached Over Fatal School Stabbing

After fatally stabbing a classmate because she refused his prom invitation, Christopher Plaskon, 20, and his parents “agreed to settle a wrongful death lawsuit filed by the victim’s mother,” Donna Cimarelli-Sanchez. Though details surrounding the settlement have yet to be disclosed, the settlement is “pending approval in a probate court, where a hearing is scheduled for Sept. 19.”


Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises Agrees to Settlement in Whistleblower Lawsuit

A settlement has been reached between Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises and a former employee, Cristina Griffith, who “accused the restaurant group of harassing and ultimately firing her for refusing” to do tasks she deemed illegal and for “reporting them to her supervisors.” Additionally, the restaurant group was “accused of violating the state’s Whistleblower Act.”
