Have you ever used a heat wrap to help alleviate muscle or joint pain? If so, you may have used a wrap that was recently recalled. Earlier this month, Pfizer issued a recall of certain lots of its eight-hour Thermacare HeatWraps. The wraps are often used to alleviate “joint, muscle and menstrual pain” and were recalled after it was discovered they might leak.

According to the recall notice, “the use of a leaking/damaged heat cell wrap could cause skin injuries such as burns/blisters and/or skin irritation on the wrap applied area.” The notice further states:

“Pfizer Consumer Healthcare is notifying consumers of this recall with this public notification. Consumer Healthcare has already notified its retailers of this recall on October 2, 2018, and has provided instructions for the return of any recalled product.”

It’s important to note, however, that only certain lots of the wraps are included in the recall. According to the notice, only the following lot numbers, which are printed on the side and back of the products, are affected:

  • T26691 with a July 2020 expiration date
  • T26693 with an August 2020 expiration date

Menstrual Pain Therapy Wraps

  • 8054HA and 8054HB with a July 2020 expiration date July 2020

If you currently have one of the recalled wraps, you should immediately stop using them. For additional information about the recall, contact Pfizer Monday through Friday at 1-800-323-3383 for details about replacements or reimbursements.
