TAMPA, FL — Shumaker lawyer Sean P. Bevil has been elected to the Hillsborough County Bar Association (HCBA) Board of Directors, extending his ongoing dedication to both the practice of law and the community he serves.

The HCBA is one of the largest voluntary bar associations in Florida with a membership of close to 4,000 attorneys, judges, and legal professionals. Its mission is to inspire and promote respect for the law and the justice system through service to the legal profession and the community.

Sean has a long-standing commitment to the HCBA, particularly through his extensive involvement with the Young Lawyers Division (YLD). Over the years, he has served in various capacities within the YLD, demonstrating leadership and a steadfast commitment to supporting young legal professionals. Sean has been a member of the HCBA YLD since 2016 and a member of the YLD Board of Directors since 2020, where he most recently moved to Past President after serving one-year terms as President (2023) and President-Elect (2022). Additionally, Sean was a member of the HCBA Bar Leadership Institute Class of 2019 to 2021 and Chair of the Member Services Committee from 2017 to 2020.

Earlier this year, Sean was recognized with the Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division’s 36 Under Thirty-Six Professionalism Award for displaying the highest standards of professionalism and ethics in the legal field, and he received the Young Lawyers Division’s Outstanding Young Lawyer Award, which acknowledged his ethical approach and the positive impact he has made in shaping the practice of law in Hillsborough County.

Furthermore, Sean is Vice Chair of the Hillsborough County Human Relations Board, where he has been serving as a general member of the Board since 2022.

Sean’s election to the HCBA Board comes as a natural progression of his dedication and service. Throughout his tenure with the YLD, he has been instrumental in organizing and leading initiatives that foster professional growth, community service, and networking opportunities for young lawyers.

“I am honored to be elected to the Hillsborough County Bar Association,” said Sean. “My involvement with the HCBA and the Young Lawyers Division has been incredibly rewarding, and I look forward to continuing my work with the local bar, supporting our legal community, and contributing to the advancement of our profession.”

Sean is a member of Shumaker’s Litigation and Disputes Service Line and Community Associations Business Sector, taking on a wide variety of issues and disputes. As a former prosecutor with significant trial experience, Sean takes a very practical approach to litigation when it comes to efficiently managing a case and tenaciously arguing his client’s issues.
