According to the FDA, Persons infected with the salmonella organism “often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain” that in rare circumstances, “can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.”
Contracted researchers hired by Brooklyn-based Sincerely Nuts have discovered traces of salmonella while conducting routine lab testing of a 2 lb. package of the company’s raw macadamia nuts, prompting a nationwide recall. The potentially affected products were sold on the Sincerely Nuts website as well as through Amazon.com from June 16th to August 10th. According to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), who issued a press release on September 2nd, “The recalled product was packed in clear, flexible plastic packages.” The company encourages consumers who have purchased the specified packages to check to see if they are included in the recall. According to a release on the company’s website, the affected packages are as follows:

The FDA and Sincerely Nuts are working jointly to investigate the source of the salmonella.
In addition to macadamia nuts, Sincerely Nuts lists 12 other types of nuts on its website, as well as packages of mixed nuts. The company also sells several brands of dried fruit, along with chocolates, candies, and other dried snacks. According to its Facebook page, Sincerely Nuts was established in 2010, with a large amount of its products specializing in organic, natural, and raw products.
