Skip Hop recently issued a recall of more than 32,000 highchairs after it discovered that the legs can actually detach from the seat, posing a hazard for children. At the time of the recall, the company had received “17 reports of the legs detaching.” Fortunately, however, none of those reports included injury incidents related to the defect.
Skip Hop recently issued a recall of more than 32,000 highchairs after it discovered that the legs can actually detach from the seat, posing a hazard for children. At the time of the recall, the company had received “17 reports of the legs detaching.” Fortunately, however, none of those reports included injury incidents related to the defect.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the recall includes the Tuo convertible high chairs sold at retailers such as “Babies “R” Us, Buy Buy Baby, Target, Kohls, Dillards and other specialty stores and on Amazon.com and Skiphop.com.” They were sold between June 2017 and December 2018 before the issue was found.
The affected highchairs are silver/white or charcoal gray in color and “have a reversible seat pad, removable tray, 5-point harness and, beechwood footrest and legs.” Additionally, the chairs can also be converted into a toddler chair as children grow. To help parents better identify whether they have one of the recalled chairs, the recall notice includes the following list of style numbers and date codes:
