Earlier this week, Wayne Farms, LLC issued a recall of “approximately 438,960 pounds of frozen, fully cooked chicken products that may be contaminated with extraneous materials, specifically metal pieces,” according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS). The company is based in Decatur, Alabama.

Earlier this week, Wayne Farms, LLC issued a recall of “approximately 438,960 pounds of frozen, fully cooked chicken products that may be contaminated with extraneous materials, specifically metal pieces,” according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS). The company is based in Decatur, Alabama.
The recalled ready-to-eat, fully cooked chicken products were produced on a variety of fates, including dates between July 4 and July 17. A list of all the products included in the recall can be found here.
To better identify whether you have one of the recalled products, check the establishment number inside the USDA mark of inspection. All the recalled products bear establishment number ‘P-20214.’ It’s important to note that the products affected by the recall were shipped nationwide to many different restaurants, distributors and processing locations.
The company first discovered the issue after it received a customer complaint on July 27, 2018. In response to the complaint, the company launched an investigation into the matter. After discovering the origin of the foreign material, Wayne Farms, LLC notified FSIS of its findings on September 4, 2018. Fortunately, the company has not received any “confirmed reports of adverse reactions or injury due to consumption” of the recalled products. If you happened to consume one of the recalled products and are concerned about falling ill or being injured, contact your healthcare provider.
