Whole Foods Voluntarily Recalls Tortilla Chips Over Undeclared Allergens

— October 3, 2018

If you’re a fan of shopping at Whole Foods, this latest recall may interest you. Earlier this week the popular retailer issued a voluntary recall of 365 Everyday Value White Corn Tortilla Chips over concerns that the product may “contain undeclared milk that was not listed on the product label.” This is a serious matter considering the fact that many people across the country have allergies or severe sensitivities to milk. If these customers consume the mislabeled chips, they may run the risk of developing a “serious or life-threatening allergic reaction.”

The recalled products were sold in Whole Foods Market and Whole Foods Market 365 retail stores across America and throughout Canada. According to the recall notice, the tortilla chips were “packaged in 20-ounce bags labeled 365 Everyday Value White Corn Tortilla Chips Salted-Party Size” and have the UPC code is 9948247145. Additionally, the products have a Best-By date of January 24-25, 2019 printed on the front of the packaging.

The issue itself was discovered earlier this year when a customer “notified Whole Foods Market that the tortilla chip bag also contained other snack mix products.” In response to the news, the company worked diligently to remove all the affected products from store shelves. Fortunately, no adverse reactions related to the consumption of the products have been reported. For now, if you have any bags of the recalled chips, you’re advised to return them to a Whole Foods store for a full refund.

If you have additional questions about the recall, contact Whole Foods Market at 1-844-936-8255 .between 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. MST, Monday through Friday.
